You know the funny thing, I OWN ALL THESE CRAP and STILL USE the same OLD favorite bag, shoe, purse, etc EVERYDAY. Even when I use a different one, max 2 days and I’m back to my old comfort. I own over 200 pairs of uselessly expensive shoes, half of them still have the tags on them. The other half don’t fit because I’ve either lost weight, gained weight or some crazy stuff like that. Yet, I wear the same favorite handful. I walk into my dressing room and can’t find a single thing to wear, yet I have loads of expensive clothes hanging from every corner. I had to sit down and borrow myself sense. ALL of these, even the ones with price tags are now second handed goods. That’s GOOD money that could have bought a piece of prime land and built property that would yield revenue for my generations, stuck in a bloody closet. My children are NOT interested in them, shoe sizes not the same, clothes design, not their style, pocket books maybe once in a while… And ALL for what??? Wealth I could have generated for my generations stuck in my closet. My mother used to walk into my closet, shake her head and say, “vanities upon vanities.” I would get upset when she said it. But now, I say it. And I get upset at myself for my juvenile exuberance. NOW, I’m an adult. Old things are passed way, TIME TO THINK LIKE AN ADULT. Abeg, I no craze to carry thousands go buy bag wey fit buy me land. Say who die? UNLESS, that bag can serve me coffee and take me to heaven. If not, I pass.

And WHY, is luxury a do or die affair??? Understand, I have absolutely NOTHING, against luxury goods, et al. But there’s MORE to life than luxury. What about teaching and encouraging our young girls to OWN the luxury, rather than BUY the luxury. I grew up with your mindset, but my young daughters taught me that owning the market is waaay better than buying the market. Their favorite phrase is, “billionaire is NOT a boy’s name.” Funny, I’m Igbo. Business, sales, marketing and savings is an integral part of our DNA, but it took my American daughters to activate that part of my brain. OWN the luxury businesses, the real estate, the properties… THEN, the luxury goods WILL come to you and whatever they cost will NOT be an issue. ACTUALLY, the vendors WILL give them to you kpa kpa, just so you’ll be seen with/in their products. But FIRST, let us learn how to create not just wealth, but SURPLUS wealth, for us and our generations. Nothing wrong if we to join the one percenters too, is there?

Absolutely. Let's not forget that with the not-so-good economy, luxury brands have been trying to cut costs for a while now. Ten years ago, most luxury-branded items were made in Europe, and some were handmade. Nowadays, they are made in China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. The quality is not the same.
